William Hunter
William Hunter joined the Speights Law team in 2021. He specializes in criminal law cases. William is a former Assistant District Attorney with a strong understanding of criminal law and the impact facing a criminal charge can have on a person’s life. William is a native of Statesboro, Georgia. He attended college at Berry College. William graduated from Samford University Cumberland School of Law. After law school, William worked as a prosecutor in the South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. William joined the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office in 2009. As a prosecutor, William served many roles in the courtroom. One of his most fulfilling roles was working closely with those accused of crimes to get their lives back on track through various treatment accountability courts, including Drug Court, Mental Health Court and Veterans’ Court. William’s role in accountability court to assist the accused led him to transition to his role as a criminal defense attorney. Recently, William’s client was facing a life-altering DUI charge. William found a technicality in the State’s case and successfully argued a motion to suppress for a client charged with DUI. William fought for his client and was able to prove that the law enforcement did not have a sufficient reason to arrest the client for DUI. William’s client avoided a DUI charge and is able to move forward with peace of mind. The Client said, “William’s demeanor and attitude was a calming force during my difficult time. He clearly knew what he was doing and fought to make sure I could move on from my bad mistakes. He appreciated how the charge was going to affect my life. I appreciate the fight William and Speights Law put up on my behalf.”Areas of Practice
